Certainty

CERTAINTY, noun
1. A fixed or real state; truth; fact.
2. Full assurance of mind; exemption from doubt.
- Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary

The word certainty is absolute when used in relation to truth itself. Things that are true are certain in the objective sense. Individuals who are certain of a given truth are exempt from doubt, as doubt is uncertain.

Truth is an objective fact about reality.
Certainty is the state of assenting to a proposition without doubt.

Someone who is certain about his beliefs is without doubt.
(Of course, if the thing he is certain about is objectively false, then he is certainly wrong!)

But one who postulates a belief as true, yet is not certain, possesses doubt.

The following statements from those at Living Faith Christian Fellowship do not ascribe certainty, but doubt:

May God help us receive and find as we continue sincerely asking
and seeking for the Truth
But the thing is, we will never have arrived, so we can never solidify. There are certain foundational things we can never compromise on, but we have to go back and re-evaluate those to make sure they are in alignment with the word of God. I've got to continually adjust to the proper parameters to stay in the middle of the road. We've got to continually seek the word of God, continually humble ourselves before God, continually read & study, and continue to adjust to [this] parameter.

And while it is humble to ascribe uncertainty to one's own opinion — postulating that there could be more truth elsewhere — this cannot be the case in regards to objective truth. To show uncertainty about whether one has arrived at matters of faith reveals opinion. Matters of faith are objective facts of reality. To assert that "we will never have arrived" and that one must "go back and re-evaluate" and "continually adjust" is not certainty – it is honesty.

Honesty, in regards to their opiniontheir interpretation.
It reveals that underneath all the charismatic preaching, hollering, & confidence is doubt. For someone who holds the truth is certain of that truth. He does not doubt that truth. He looks no further as though that truth has not been found. He need not question, doubt, or wonder if he has arrived at that truth. He has arrived at truth.

This is not pride and arrogance. This is humility.

This is not to say, that one who holds the truth – one who does not doubt, one who is certain and does not wonder if he has arrived – this is not to say that they do not continually adjust and pray! There is much that God wishes to perfect in our lives. We cannot believe that we have arrived at perfection in our own being. This is sanctification. But for one to begin sanctification, there must be a new birth. A new birth is an objective reality. It really happens! These objective realities are matters of faith. One cannot begin to grow, walk and live unless he is born.

These matters of faith must be believed with full assurance of mind, exempt from doubt. To not believe is doubt and uncertainty.

So dear friends, are you certain that you possess truth, or do you believe you must continually re-evaluate whether you have arrived at truth? The uncertainty and doubt reveal man's opinion.
